Worth Sherrill Whisnant Jr.
MORGANTON -- Worth Sherrill Whisnant, Jr., 74, of Frank Whisnant Road, Morganton, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Valdese General Hospital following a period of declining health.
Born in Burke County, on April 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Worth Sherrill Whisnant Sr. and Pansy Elizabeth McFalls Whisnant.
Worth was a lifetime member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church. He was a past District Governor and member of the Oak Hill Ruritan and was past President of the Burke County Fair Association. He retired from Henredon with 40 years of service.
Worth is survived by his wife, Frances Arnita Coffey Whisnant of the home; daughters, Debbie Morehead and husband, Steve, Dianne Stuart and husband, Tim, and Sandy Sisk and husband, David, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Angie Scott and husband, Zeb, of Morganton, Kelly Stuart and fiancée, Matthew Gay, of Raleigh, and Megan Morehead, Lauren Sisk and Alex Sisk, all of Morganton; and brothers, Donald Whisnant and wife, Laura Beth, of Fayetteville, and Bill Whisnant and wife, Debbie, of Morganton.
The funeral was held Saturday at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Denton officiating.
