BLAKE W. WHISNANT

HICKORY - Blake Wilson Whisnant, 83, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Nov. 25, 2003, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Born Aug. 9, 1920, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Thurman Wilson Whisnant and Grace Ethel Seitz Whisnant.
He was owner of Stardust Hotel in Myrtle Beach, S.C. for 22 years.

He was preceded in death by parents, Thurman Wilson and Grace Ethel Seitz Whisnant; brothers, Fallon Whisnant, Danny Whisnant and Thurman Whisnant; and son-in-law, Elton W. “Buddy” Small.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Huffman Whisnant of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughters, Barbara W. Small of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Brenda W. Jones of Florence, S.C.; sisters, Edith Garrett and Dorothy Triplett of Hickory and Martha Andrews of Raleigh; brothers, Ralph C. Whisnant of Hickory and Norman Whisnant of Hickory; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in Catawba Memorial Park with Pastor Greg Williams officiating.

The family will be in The Celebration of Life Room at Catawba Funerals & Cremations on Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, from noon to 12:30 p.m.
