RALPH C. WHISNANT
HICKORY - Ralph Coye Whisnant, 76, of Sixth Street Drive, NW, died Aug. 18, 2004, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley.
Born Nov. 13, 1927, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Thurman W. Whisnant and Grace Seitz Whisnant.
A member of Corinth Reformed United Church of Christ and American Legion Post 48, he was a veteran of World War II and Korea, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was owner and president of Rol-Mol Inc. for 37 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Bost Whisnant; stepmother, Hilda Burkett Whisnant; four brothers, Fallon, Thurman “Bud,” Blake and Danny Whisnant; and two brothers-in-law, Marvin Garrett and Bill Triplett.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Steve and Connie S. Whisnant of Hickory; a grandson, Rush William Whisnant; a brother, Norman Whisnant; three sisters, Edith Garrett, Dorothy Triplett and Martha Anders; five sisters-in-law, Carolyn Whisnant, Kathy Whisnant, Johnsie Whisnant, Norma Whisnant and Emma Whisnant; a brother-in-law, Phillip Anders; and close friends, Stanley Homes and Colon Elliott.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Bob Thompson and Ben Rowe at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Corinth Reformed United Church of Christ.
Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be John Whisnant, David Whisnant, Marcus Parlier, Bobby Sain, Clay Greene and David Bost.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rol-Mol employees, Donald Snowden, Eugene Lucas, Timothy Painter and James Bell.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Corinth Reformed United Church of Christ from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
