Nina Ree Wheeler

Nina Ree Wheeler, 81, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007.

She was born Nov. 17, 1925, in Caldwell County to the late Lonar Cornelius Whisnant and Carrie Lee Brown Whisnant.

She was a very faithful and active member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. She loved to garden and care for her animals. She retired from Drexel Heritage Plant No. 33 in Morganton.

She is survived by a daughter, Wanda Milton and her husband, Johnnie, of Morganton; three grandchildren, Michael Barrier and his wife, Bonnie, Karen Clark and her husband, Shawn, and Scott Barrier, four great-grandchildren, Lorin Barrier, Raelyn Clark, Greyson Clark and Ashlyn Clark, all of Morganton; one brother, Stewart Whisnant and his wife, Betty, of Alabama; and one step-granddaughter, Roxanne Reep of Morganton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Harding Wheeler; brothers, Vernon Whisnant, Ned Whisnant and Owen Whisnant.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating.

Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Sossoman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church Building Fund, 2272 Mt. Home Church Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
