Willie Mae Whisenant
Willie Mae Berry Whisenant, age 80, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at Wilson Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Earl Berry and Bobbie Lytle Berry. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Earlene Bunn; sisters Gladys and Helen; and brother, Ray.
Willie Mae is survived by her loving and caring husband of 64 years, Earl Whisenant; daughters, Linda Skinner of Elm City, Phyllis Spivey and husband Donald of Stanstonburg, Rhonda Jordan and husband Bob of Wendell; sons Gene Whisenant of Stantonsburg, Ricky Whisenant and wife Tammy of Wilson; sister Doris Bennett and husband Bill of Chesasapeake, Va.; brothers, Leroy Berry and wife Pearl of California, Bill Berry and wife Shelby of Hickory; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, and she was very fond of her pets. She will be truly missed. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and most of all looking after her family. Willie Mae was retired from Eastern N.C. School for the Deaf with 21 years of service.

There will be a special time to honor the life of Willie Mae Whisenant with a visitation from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. today at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at noon in Maplewood Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Davis officiating. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Davita Dialysis Center, 2693A Forest Hills Road, Wilson, NC 27893.
