Charles Day Whisnant

Mr. Whisnant, 99, of Charlotte, passed away on October 26, 2004 at home. Mr. Whisnant was born on December 6, 1904 in York County, South Carolina to the late William Preston and Mary Castle Whisnant. He was a life long Presbyterian and a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church since 1948. Mr. Whisnant graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the class of 1928. He was a high school teacher for seventeen years before going into the furniture business. Mr. Whisnant owned and operated a furniture and Hotpoint appliance store on South College Street and North Tryon Street until he retired in 1978.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Virginia Dabbs Whisnant; sister, Mrs. Athleen Farris of Winston-salem; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2004 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery with the Reverend Von Clemans officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
