Addie Mae Whisnant

Addie Mae Whisnant, 99, of Tryon Road, Rutherfordton, formerly of the Cane Creek Community in Union Mills, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Willow Ridge Nursing Home. She was a native of Rutherford County, a homemaker and a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are a number of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie P. and Jettie Daves Whisnant; brothers, Frank and CR "Ree" Whisnant; and sisters, Gracie Toney and Selma Metcalf. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cane Creek Baptist Church in Union Mills with the Rev. Danny Camp officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County or Cane Creek Baptist Church. Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family.
