Charles Wayne Whisenant

Charles Wayne Whisenant, 68, of Park St., Morganton, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, in Greensboro, following a lengthy illness. Born in Burke County, on Feb. 20, 1941, Wayne was the son of Ilese Yount Whisenant of Morganton and the late Charles Anderson Whisenant. He was employed as the manager of the former Mimosa Theater until his retirement due to his health, and he was a member of Mull's Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Sean P. Whisenant of Morganton; a daughter, Michelle Johnson and her husband, Darrel, of Marion; a granddaughter, Andrea Johnson; sisters, Mary Ann Carswell and her husband, Ted, and Faye Noles; his former wife and the mother of his children, Regina Clay, all of Morganton; a niece, Teresa Massey; nephews, Brian Carswell and David Noles; and great-nieces and nephews, Jake Baker, Haven Massey, Olivia Noles and Natalie Carswell. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Mull's Grove Baptist Church with Brother Bud Jernigan and the Revs. Allan Barlow and Moneyham officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral. At other times the family will be at the home of his mother, Ilese Whisenant, 104 Pony St., Morganton.
