Walter J.B. Whisenant

VALDESE - Mr. Walter J.B. Whisenant, 70, of Morganton, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at his residence after a period of declining health. Mr. Whisenant was born Oct. 19, 1938, in Burke County to the late Joseph Issac and Annie Allman Whisenant. He retired from Henredon Furniture Co. and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Webb Whisenant of the home; a son, Timothy Whisenant of the home; two brothers, Winfred Whisenant of Morganton and Billy Ray Whisenant of Glen Alpine; and four sisters, Janie Owens and Annie Mae Owens, both of Glen Alpine, Mary Childers of Lockhart, S.C., and Ruby Lee McCall of Morganton. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, in Calvary Memorial Gardens in Connelly Springs, with the Rev. Daniel Parker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
