Imogene Whisenhunt Chauvin, 91, of Abbeville and previously of Houma, died at 10:25 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Abbeville General Hospital.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda and husband, Norman Ledet of Abbeville, and Beverly Findley of Terre Haute, Ind.; one son, Charles Chauvin of Houma; nine grandchildren, Arleen and husband, Jude Bellard of Eunice, Myra and husband, James Aubin of Plaquemine, Sharon and husband, Kevin Granger of Maurice, Eric and wife, Linda Chauvin of Bow, Wash., Todd Chauvin of Houma, Charmaine and husband, Tracy Pitre of Houma, Erika Rhodes of Houma, Chad Moore of San Diego, and Scott and wife, Laurie Moore of Asbury, N.J.; 18 great-grandchildren, Brian and Patrick Bellard, Riley, Katelan, and Garrett Granger, Michael, Megan, Joseph, and Gabrielle Aubin, Sinjon and Keaton Chauvin, Nicholas and Kaden Chauvin, Madelyn and Lillian Grace Pitre, Olivia Rhodes, and Laurestine Hollie and Trent Moore; and three sisters, Waldine Boswell, Robbie Morton and Wilda Jackson, all of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Minnie Whisenhunt; her husband, Bill Chauvin (Jan. 19, 2001); and her son, Thomas "Leroy" Chauvin (July 23, 2003).
Imogene was born in Levita, Texas, the eldest of four children born to Robert and Minnie Whisenhunt. She married Willie "Bill" Chauvin in November 1938. They resided in Houma. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and traveling. She was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church in Houma.
