Jewel E. Whisenant "Bro. Wiz" (1918 - 2009)
The Rev. Jewel E. "Bro. Wiz" Whisenant went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009.
Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Victory Baptist Church in Weatherford. Interment: Tin Top Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Bro. Whisenant was born April 29, 1918, in Dublin. He truly lived life vivaciously throughout his 91 years. He was a hero of the faith. He was saved while on the battlefield in Germany when he heard a young soldier reciting the 23rd Psalm as he lay dying. He has served the Lord faithfully since, and through his ministry over 100 Baptist churches in the U.S. have been organized.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Frances Whisenant, and a grandson, Joshua Michael Whisenant.
Survivors: Son, the Rev. Michael Whisenant and wife, Susan, of Granbury; grandchildren, Kristi and Ray Lanigan of Fort Worth, Rauni Whisenant of Mineral Wells and Justin and Tiffany Whisenant of Granbury; great-grandchildren, Zac Lanigan, Kandace Lanigan and Madisyn Whisenant; foster son, the Rev. Ron Davis and wife, Jeanette, of Greenville and their children, Marcia, Tricia and David.
