Hal F. Whisnant
Mr. Whisnant of Charlotte, age 89, passed away June 7, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
Mr. Whisnant was born in Shelby, NC, the son of the late ED Whisnant and Evie Reinhardt Whisnant, on June 18, 1918. He loved golfing and working in his rose garden. Mr. Whisnant was a member of the Charles M. Setzer Masonic Lodge and the Oasis Shrine Temple, he was also Administrative Counsel Chairperson at Commonwealth United Methodist Church where he and his wife were members for over 50 years.
Mr. Whisnant was a member of the Lloyd Land Sunday School Class at Commonwealth and loved to sing in the choir.
He is survived by two sisters, Janice Brooks of Shelby, NC and Eloise Williams of Richmond VA; his sister-in-law Helen 'Bunt' Hayman; his beloved little buddy, his dog, 'Ginger'; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his late parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and Ruth, his beloved wife whom he loved very much and was married for 55 years.
A Funeral Service will be Wednesday June 11, 2008 at the hour of 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of McEwen with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior beginning at 10:00 a.m. at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Lands Sunday School Class and the Oasis Shrine Patrol.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorials may be made to Commonwealth United Methodist Church, 2434 Commonwealth Ave., Charlotte, NC 28205 or to Shriners Children's Hospital, c/o Oasis Temple, 604 Doug Mayes Place, Charlotte, NC 28262.
