Adam Whisnant
Adam Whisnant, 90, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008. He was born May 22, 1918 in Cleveland County to the late Everette and Lucie Harrison Whisnant. Mr. Whisnant was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors and was a hunting enthusiast. He worked in the furniture industry and was very gifted with his hands. He retired from Henredon Furniture. He loved children even though he did not have any of his own. He was wise beyond his years and never met a stranger. Mr. Whisnant is survived by his wife of 59 years, Versie Whisnant of the home; sisters, Joyce Williams, Gladys Gamble and Evelyn Holland; numerous nieces and nephews Special thanks to his caregivers, Louise Buchanan, Betty Ford, Revonda Coleman and the staff of Britthaven of Morganton. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Salem United Methodist with the Rev. Don Freshour officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kirksey Funeral Home in Morganton.
