Junior Whisenant
Pilot Point -- Junior Whisenant, 72, of Pilot Point died Friday, June 9, 2000, at his home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Grayson County to Medford and Belle Branum Whisenant Sr. He married Lucille Cook on July 14, 1945, in Pilot Point.
He was retired from the city of Pilot Point, where he worked as a licensed wastewater plant operator. He was a resident of Pilot Point for 70 years, and he served on the Pilot Point City Council. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge. For 26 years, he served as an observer for the National Climatic Data Center.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 12, in the chapel at Huff/Slay Funeral Home in Pilot Point. The Rev. Luther Slay officiated. Burial will be in Pilot Point Community Cemetery in Pilot Point.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Hollar, Eric McKnight, Shane Whisenant, Justin Whisenant, Aaron Ford and J.P. Whisenant.
Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, June 11, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Pilot Point Community Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of Pilot Point; a son, Mike Whisenant of Pilot Point; three daughters, Diane McKinney of Las Vegas, Nev., Susie McKnight of Sanger and Jennie Hollar of Pilot Point; two brothers, Bobby Whisenant of Pilot Point and Buddy Whisenant of Fort Worth; three sisters, Liz Shearer of Pilot Point, Evelyn Hoffman of Fort Worth and Mollie Sowards of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Nelson, formerly of Denton.
