Virginia Parrish Whisenant

Virginia Parrish Whisenant, 84, of Hewitt, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at her residence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cary Killough officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whisenant was born in Billings, Mont., to the late John Thomas and Loreta (Horn) Harcrow. She spent the majority of her years in Waco, where she worked for Crawford-Austin. She married Jim Parrish in 1939 and they raised two daughters, Reta and Irene. She married Clarence V. Whisenant March 5, 1960, and moved to California where she worked in the medical field as a secretary, retiring in 1980. She was a hospital volunteer for many years and enjoyed helping others. After retirement, she and C.V. traveled all over the world. She walked the Great Wall of China and was baptized in the River of Jordan. She enjoyed quilting, but crocheting was her passion. She returned to the Waco area in 1996, residing in Hewitt. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Robinson. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. A caring and giving person that will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.V. Whisenant; brothers, Bobby Harcrow and Jerry Harcrow; sisters, Ruby Dowdy and JoAnn Jay; and son-in-law, T.A. "Art" Drummond.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Reta Stone and husband, Shorty, of Robinson and Irene Drummond, of Hewitt; step-children, Richard Whisenant and Linda Parrish, of Fort Worth; sisters, Jackie Lesmeister and husband, Bernard, of Minnesota, LaFawn Purdy, of Oklahoma, and Mary Cotharn and husband, Charlie, of Speegleville; brothers, Harold Harcrow and wife, Doris, of California, and Jim Harcrow and wife, Susie Anna, of McGregor; brother-in-law, H.B. Jay, of Speegleville; grandchildren, Jim Drummond, of Hewitt, Duane Drummond and wife, Wendy, of Phoenix, Craig Stone and wife, Dianne, of Robinson, Lisa Stone Ray and husband, James, of Grand Prairie, and Rene Stone, of Robinson; honorary granddaughter, Sherrie Tiechelman, of Robinson; step-grandchildren, Richie Parrish, of Ft. Worth, Kelly Schultz and husband, Aaron, of Holland, Jason Whisenant and wife, Rachael, of Bryan, and Terry Whisenant; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.

She was our special ANGEL and will be missed, but we are all rejoicing that she is home with her Lord and loved ones.
