Frank Whisnant

Frank Hampton Whisnant, 89, of Union Mills, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, at Willow Ridge Nursing Home in Rutherfordton.

A native of Rutherford County, Frank was born Sept. 1, 1916, to the late Charlie P. and Jettie Daves Whisnant.

He was a member of the Cane Creek Baptist Church, Union Mills. Retired from Broughton Hospital as a health care technician, he was a former funeral director for Crowe's Mortuary. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Spindale Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother C.R. "Ree" Whisnant and a sister Gracie Toney.

He is survived by two sisters, Addie Mae Whisnant of Union Mills and Selma Metcalf of Inman, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Cane Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Camp officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
