Wayne E. Whisenant Sr.

Wayne E. "Ed" Whisenant Sr., 83, passed away peacefully, Oct. 10, 2004, at his home. Ed was born Dec. 21, 1920, in Hotsprings, Ark. and married his loving wife, Elsie J. Whisenant April 13, 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Kenton during World War II. Ed and Elsie lived in Colorado Springs, Colo., where they owned and operated Whisenant Auto Body. In 1964, he moved his family to Las Vegas, where he worked for the Lincoln-Mercury dealership until his retirement in 1992. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elsie J. Whisenant; a loving sister, Gladys Blount of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three children, Mary Jean Page of Grand Junction, Colo., Wayne Whisenant Jr. of San Bernardino, Calif. and Sandra Varney of Las Vegas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Leisa Crank, Shawn Whisenant, Leonard Page, Doris Petek, Lori Varney, Karen Varney and Brian Whisenant; along with 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Ed was a former member of the First Methodist Church. Ed was a loving husband, as well as father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family.
