Morris Whisenant

GAFFNEY, SC-- Morris Lee Whisenant, 66, of 176 Mill Gin Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 6, 2009 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Philip Whisenant, Sr. and Lorena Cantrell Whisenant. He was former owner/operator of Whisenant Camping Center. Mr. Whisenant was a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, was a member of Cherokee Creek Volunteer Fire Department and a former Scout Leader.

Surviving are two sons, Kevin Whisenant and wife, Melanie and Kenneth Whisenant and wife, Suzanne, both of Gaffney; a brother, Philip Whisenant, Jr., and wife, Dorothy of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Blake Whisenant, Whitney Whisenant and Greyson Jones. Mr. Whisenant was preceded in death by a son, Philip Darrell Whisenant; a brother, Detroy Whisenant; and a sister, Helen Beason.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Cherokee Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Frazier officiating.

The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Creek Baptist Church, "Building Fund", 502 Buck Shoals Road, Gaffney, SC 29341.

The family will be at the home of Kevin and Melanie Whisenant, 106 Hillside Drive.
