Angela Marie Randall Whisnant
WHISNANT, ANGELA MARIE RANDALL - 34, died of heart failure on Thursday, May 28, 2009. She was a resident of Corryton, Tennessee. Angela was born in Morganton, North Carolina on June 25, 1974 to Joyce P. and Nicholas E. Randall. Academically and musically gifted, Angela graduated in 1992 from High Point Central High School. She attended Campbell University and graduated from Appalachian State University in 1997 with a BS in Chemistry. She graduated with an MS from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she received an award from the American Chemical Society and published papers in academic journals. Angela was initially a stay-at-home mother to her young daughter. Recently she worked at the University of Tennessee Medical Center to research new treatments for Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and other diseases. Angela loved playing games of all types and was a fierce competitor. A Renaissance woman, she was as skilled in arts and crafts as she was in science, mathematics, and music. She is survived by her husband Jody and daughter Caitlin of Knoxville, Tennessee, and her father, Nicholas E. Randall of Falcon, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her mother Joyce P. Randall and sister Stephanie A. Randall. Her family would like to express deepest gratitude to staff and friends at Cornerstone of Recovery and Dr. Kenneth Jobson for helping Angela find herself once again. Angela expressed a desire to have her remains donated to science to continue helping others. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of First Baptist Church in Morganton, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the University of Tennessee Knoxville Department of Chemistry is appreciated.
