Kent L. Whisenant
Kent Leroy Whisenant, resident of Talala, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009 at the River Walk Cabins, Honobia, Oklahoma at the age of 53. Kent was born February 11, 1956 at Tulsa to Lee Roy and Helen Leona (Reynolds) Whisenant. He was raised and received his education in Owasso, graduating with the Owasso Class of 1974. On May 9, 1980, Kent and Linda Leslie were united in marriage at Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Nowata and Rogers counties, residing the last eleven years in rural Talala. Kent was a member of the Living Word Family Church of Nowata and in his spare time enjoyed hiking, fishing and horse back riding. Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are his: Wife – Linda of the home. Children – Clint Whisenant and wife Kobie of Littleton, Colorado. Leslie Keiser and husband Tim of Blanchard, Oklahoma. Kindell Whisenant-Fisher and husband Travis of Talala, Oklahoma. 4 grandchildren – Tanner, Aiden, Noah and Wyatt. 1 brother – Steve Whisenant and wife Sheila of Welch, Oklahoma. 1 sister – Rynda "Mimi" Whisenant of McAlester, Oklahoma. Kent was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Jeremy.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Living Word Family Church in Nowata with Rev. Jim Winslow officiating. Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at the Whisenant Cemetery, Snowball, Arkansas. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the: Living Word Community Life Center, PO Box 762, Nowata, OK 74048. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
