Peggy Dean Chambers
Peggy Dean Chambers, beloved mother and grandmother, died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 in Boerne. Peggy was born on April 5, 1930 in Gatesville and attended a two-room schoolhouse along with her siblings and cousins in Ater.Peggy met her true love, Bobby Chambers, in the summer of 1950 when he gave her a ride to work as a telephone operator in Seguin. Within six months, they were married and two years later started their family. She started working outside the home when she took a position in the financial aid office of Texas Lutheran College and later at Southwest Texas State University.Peggy was happiest being around people; she enjoyed life and had fun wherever she was.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert H. Chambers; parents, Claude and Jewell Whisenhunt; sister, Virginia Thomas; brother, Vertis Whisenhunt; foster parents, Mr. and Mrs.Willard N. Ander Sr.; mother-in-law Jamima Chambers; and brother-in-law Dr. William J. Chambers.Peggy is survived by her son, Rob Chambers of Austin, daughters Roxanne C. King and husband Billy and Deanna Chambers. companion Kent and grandchildren Ashlyn and Katelyn Wildman, all of San Antonio. She is also survived by her brothers, Douglas Whisenhunt of Conroe; C.C. Whisenhunt and wife Charlotte of San Antonio; sisters, Joy Palmer and husband Ray of Fort Worth; Patty MacDonald and Dorothy Clark of California, foster sister, Linda Ferguson and husband Ed of Humble; foster brothers Willard Ander of Crystal Lake, Ill.; Hank Ander of Chandler, Ariz. and Dr. Richard G. Chambers and wife Peggy Lee of Norman, Okla. Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. at Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Cemetery.
