Chris Whisenant
Chris Whisenant, 54, Salisbury, died Monday (May 23, 2005) at Rowan Regional Medical Center from complications following surgery. He battled throat cancer for two years.
Born Nov. 27, 1950, in Rowan County, Mr. Whisenant, a son of Sudie Stutts Whisenant, Salisbury, and the late J.R. Whisenant Jr., was a 1968 graduate of Boyden High School and attended Davidson County Community College.
An employee at the former Al's Nighthawk, he was in his 33rd year working at Brad Ragan Inc., where he specialized in off-road tires. He was a former member of the Army Reserve 991st Transportation Unit.
A member of First Presbyterian Church, he was in the Everyman's Bible class.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include wife Cheryl D. Sprinkle; brother David Whisenant, Salisbury; and sister Pam Whisenant, Maui, Hawaii.
Services: Memorial, 2 p.m. Thursday, First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Randal V. Kirby, minister. The Everyman's Bible class will be seated as a group. The body will be cremated.
