Everett Whisnant Jr.

Funeral services for Everett V. Whisnant Jr., 78, were held Tuesday, March 21 at the Downtown Church of Christ in Bixby, Okla., with Walter Billingsley officiating. Burial was in Loftis Cemetery in Willhoit.

Mr. Whisnant died March 17, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. He was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Earlsboro, Okla., the son of Everett V. Whisnant Sr. and Flora (Cochran) Whisnant. He married Ruth Alline Naugle Dec. 10, 1949.

He was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ. He had been a Bixby resident since 1977, and had been employed with Green Acres Sod Farm as a heavy equipment operator.

Mr. Whisnant is survived by three sons, Carl V. Whisnant and his wife, Mary Lou, of Bixby, Okla., Eddie L. Whisnant and his wife, Mary Lou, of Corsicana, Texas, and Larry D. Whisnant and his wife, Anette, of Bennington, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leo Whisnant of Seymour and Charles Whisnant of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in September 2000; his parents; one son, James Arthur Whisnant; and four brothers.
