Edna Whisenant
A graveside service for Edna Whisenant, 86, of Tyler, will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Dr. Doug Baker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Edna passed away on Jan. 18, 2010, in Tyler. She was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Williamson, W. Va., to the late Archie and Estie Ett Hunt.
For many years Mrs. Whisenant worked for Dr. Gus Pinkerton as a dental assistant and for Dr. Wiley Roosth as a laboratory specialist. Edna was a longtime member of Glenwood United Methodist Church before joining Marvin United Methodist Church.
She loved to travel, read, knit, crochet, needlepoint, counted cross-stitch, quilt, sew and play bridge. For many years she made costumes for musicals, madrigal dinners and for Harmony and Understanding at Tyler Junior College. Edna's other hobbies included china painting, ceramics and crafts.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Lewis Whisenant, and her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Walter Hilton.
Edna is survived by her loving family including her daughter, Dr. Cheryl Rogers and husband Michael; grandchildren, Jennifer Cowan and husband Shawn, and Chris Rogers; and great-grandchildren, Liberty Leigh and Timothy Michael Cowan.
