Florence Whisnant

Florence Augusta Whisnant, 75, of Gateway Nursing Home, Lenoir, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Gateway Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 14, 1928 in Caldwell County to the late Thomas Scott and Rose Greene Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Liz Martin, Kate Greer and Coleen Scott; brother, Stuart Scott; and grandson, Jimmy Hendrix.

Mrs. Whisnant was a homemaker and member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Daniel Whisnant of Granite Falls, Roger Whisnant of Thomasville, NC, Walter Whisnant, Jr. of Sawmills and Larry Whisnant of Lenoir; two daughters, Linda McLean of Hudson and Brenda Hendrix of Lenoir; two brothers, Doug Scott of Blacksburg, S.C. and James Scott of Lenoir; three sisters, Ann Parsons of Lenoir, Mildred Whisnant of Hudson and Ollie Wishon of Lenoir; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Friday, March 5, 2004 , at 2 p.m. at Harris Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Gibson officiating. Burial will be at Harris Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
