ASHVILLE — Funeral service for Sarah Frances Whisnant Smith Rich, 87, was Monday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Danny Wise and Dennis Osborn officiated. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery. Mrs. Rich died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008. Mrs. Rich was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Myrtis Whisnant; sister, Ruby Nash; brother, Beason Whisnant and husband Joe Smith. She is survived by daughters, Myrtle (Jack) Davis and Sarah Jo "Josie" (Dennis) Osborn, all of Ashville; brothers, Lewis (Nora) Whisnant of Ashville and Ivan Whisnant of Pell City; granddaughters, Jackie (Pete) Crowe of Gadsden, Jessica (Ramon) Gonzales of Ashville, Robin (Burt) Joiner of Oneonta, Kim Abernathy of Ashville; grandsons, Jeff (Sonja) Davis of Steele, Hugh (Tammy) Abernathy, Chris (Francis) Abernathy, Adam (Steph) Abernathy, all of Ashville; and nine great grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Morgan Funeral Chapel directed.
