Rev. William C. Whisnand. a retired minister of the Presbyterian church. died at his home at 703 West Boston Avenue April 26. 1907, after an extended illness. He was past 73 years of age. having been born in Bloomington. Ind., in 1834. He spent his early life on a farm near Bloomington, and was married there to Miss Sarah E. Graham. In 1856 he came to Illinois and settled in Spring Grove township of this county. In 1860 he moved to Piper City. and was postmaster there for fourteen years. Mrs. Whisnand died there, and a few years afterward he married Miss Margaret P. Pope, who survived him. with two sons born by hts first wife.

Mr. Whisnand was called to the ministry while living at Piper City. and while there accepted an offer for home mission work in North Dakota. He was one ot the pioneer missionary workers in the territory, remaining there for twenty-two years. His funeral was conducted by Dr. W. R. King of the local Presbyterian church, assisted by Dr. C. O. McCullough of the Methodist church.

Burial was in Glendale cemetery.
