Charles E. Whisenand, 53, of Kelley, died Wednesday, May 14, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Huxley, with the Rev. Andrea Severson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Kelley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Huxley.
Charles E. Whisenand was born Jan. 11, 1955, in Grinnell, to Paul and Merlene (Meldrem) Whisenand. He graduated from Ballard in 1973, from Central College in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in communications and theater, and from the University of Northern Colorado (Greeley) in 1982 with a master's degree. He worked in marketing.
Most of his life was spent in Kelley. He loved fishing and hunting. Theater was his passion. He was the author of "The True Adventure of Whiz and Ramblin' Red Scarf."
He is survived by his parents, Paul and Merlene Whisenand, of Kelley; and two sisters, Sherill (Paul) Cruz, of Tehachapi, Calif., and Mary Whisenand, of Des Moines.
Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with the arrangements.
