Barbara Lee Whisenhunt

Barbara Lee Whisenhunt, 53, a resident of Hoquiam for 6 years, died Monday, February 24, 2003 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was born March 14, 1949 in Chester, South Carolina to Frank and Rosalie (Miller) Patrick. Barbara had lived in Longview, Wash from 1963 to 1986 and she had also lived in Brookings, Oregon and Crescent City, Calif. In 1987 she married Donald Whisenhunt at Brookings, Oregon. He died in 1996. She had also been married to Michael Hoven. Mrs. Whisenhunt worked as a bartender in the Longview and Kalama areas. She was a member of the Aberdeen Salvation Army Church and the church's Women's League and Home League and the Longview Elks. Her four grandbabies were her life. She also enjoyed sewing and needlework and even entered and won a ribbon at the Curry County Fair in Oregon for a blanket she had made for her eldest granddaughter. She loved to read, especially the Little House on the Prairie books, which she had a collection of. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Lynn Hoven of Hoquiam; brothers, William, Claude and Horace Patrick all of South Carolina, sister, Bertha Watkins of Chester, South Carolina and four granddaughters. Her parents and a brother died before her.
