Larence Arlen Whisenhunt
COEBURN -- Larence Arlen Whisenhunt, 48, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at his home.
A lifelong resident of Dickenson County, he was a son of Eva Whisenhunt of Coeburn and the late Clarence Whisenhunt. He was a 1970 graduate of Ervinton High School, a member of Meade's Chapel Church and retired from Clinchfield Coal Co. He was a member of UMWA Local 7170.
Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Sherry Moore Whisenhunt; three sons, Timothy Scott Whisenhunt of Dryden, Va., James Larence Whisenhunt of London, Ky., and Phillip Arlen Whisenhunt of Coeburn; a daughter, Sarah Leanne Mullins of Coeburn; three sisters, Edith Fay Gay of Locust Grove, Va., and Cathy Kirk and Becky Meade, both of Coeburn; three brothers, Norman Whisenhunt of Wise, and Clarence Ross Whisenhunt Jr. and Mike Whisenhunt, both of Coeburn; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Jack Meade will officiate. Burial will be in the Whisenhunt Family Cemetery in Coeburn. Mr. Whisenhunt was also preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Blake Mullins.
Among survivors are grandchildren Nicholas Scott Whisenhunt, Nola Dawn Whisenhunt and Deborah Leanne Mullins; and step-grandchildren Jonathan and Jeremy Mullins.
Mr. Whisenhunt was a loving and kind father and lived only for his children and grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Friday in the funeral home where a song service will be held at 7 p.m.
Mullins Funeral Home in Clintwood is in charge of arrangements.
