Norma Jean Whisenhunt Smith
Services for Norma Jean Smith will be Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Rev. Frank Simpson officiating. A family meal will be served following the service and interment will be at 4 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Okla.
Norma was born Feb. 13, 1930, to Robert Lee Whisenhunt and Gertrude Rena Lyda in Olustee, Okla. She attended Olustee Schools and after graduation attended Oklahoma State University and Central State University in Edmond, Okla. She worked toward her masters degree in Education and became the Administrator of Adult Education at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech. Ms. Smith lost her battle to cancer on Nov. 1, 2009, but fought like the grand woman she was. She loved people and helped so many including her family. She did not have an easy life nor death but fought the injustices of her life and for so many others.
She is survived by her daughters, Jackie Warden of Stillwater and Cindy Worrell of Lone Grove, Okla.; grandchildren, Dustin Warden of Austin, Texas, Tammy Warden of Stillwater, Matthew Johnson of Norman, Okla. and Nicholas Johnson of Lone Grove; great-grandchildren, Travis Ruud of Stillwater and Jordan Johnson of Ardmore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Keith Smith; and her grandson, Charles Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Nick Johnson, Matt Johnson, Dustin Warden and Bonnas Warden.
