Dwight Whistnant

SHELBY — Mr. Dwight Andrew Whistnant, 56, of 806 Logan St., departed this life on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004.

He was born Aug. 12, 1946, in Cleveland County. He was the son of the late Andrew Hogue and Thelma Pearl Payton. He was formerly employed at L.D. Price Construction Co. and Sara Lee of Kings Mountain.

He is survived by four daughters, Patrilya (Gregory) Laguins of Shelby, Rejenna Whistnant (DeAngelo) Johnson of Philadelphia, Lisa and Andrea Whistnant of Raleigh; one sister, Shirley (Johnnie) Moncree of Shelby; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four nieces, three uncles, James, Homer and John Whistnant all of Shelby and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Genesis Funeral Service, with the Rev. R.E. Devoe officiating.

The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service and will meet at the home of his sister at 2314 Mason St. in Shelby.
