Fran P. Whisnant

RACINE - Fran P. (nee: Klocke) Whisnant, 73, passed away peacefully in her Racine home on Wednesday, May 25, 2005. Mrs. Whisnant, daughter of Clem J. and Elizabeth Klocke, was born in Dedham, Iowa on November 8, 1931, She lived in Camp Pendleton, Calif., Des Moines, Iowa, Sioux Falls, S.D., Montgomery, Ala.( Vancouver, Wash., Portland, Ore. Her home was in Waikoloa, Hawali prior to her illness. She attended St. Joseph's Grade School in Dedham, Iowa and St. Angela's Academy in Carroll, Iowa. Fran led a full and active life. She was an avid golfer, tournament bridge player, and loved entertaining guests and friends in her retirement years. She will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched. Everyone remembers Fran's extroverted personality, characterized by warm smiles and contagious laughter. Surviving are her loving daughter and son-in-law Rene, and Barry LaDuke of Racine; and loving son, Dan Phipps of Auburn, Ala.; one granddaughter, Nicole LaDuke of Racine; 15 brothers and sisters, Jessie (Arnold) Fast of West Point, Neb., Maxine McFarland of Omaha, Neb. Helen (Delbrt) Johnson of Brea, Calif., Lorraine Gettler (Bill) of Mesa, Ariz., Lambert (Donna) Klocke of Rockwell City, Iowa, Jerry (Betty) Klocke of Carroll, Iowa, LeRoy (Janice) Klocke of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Louise Costello of Vail, Iowa, Ronald (Joleen) Klocke of Carroll, Iowa, Jim (Louann) Klocke of Edgewood, Wash., Larry (Pat) Klocke of Audubon, Iowa, Sharon (Eldon) Wright of Scranton, Iowa, Wayne (Carol) Klocke of Dedham, Iowa, Donna (Ken) Lowe of Mulvane, Kan., Marlene (Jim) Wille of Louisville, Texas. She is further survived by her first husband, Norman Phipps; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Neill Whisnant; and other family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dedham, Iowa on Saturday, May 28, 2005, at 10:30. am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Saturday from 9 am. until the time of service. A celebration of Fran's life will be held in Racine at a later date to be announced. Memorials to the Scleroderma Foundation, 333 South Wells Street, Suite 1318, Chicago, 111. 60606, have been suggested.
