Fonzie Whisenant
Mr. Fonzie Whisenant, age 67, a resident of 898 North Grimesland Bridge Road, Washington died Tuesday April 28, 2009 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday May 1, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Rev. David Linton. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville. Danny McLawhorn, Tony Daniels, Bobby Tyer, William Bass, Dennis Roberson, David Dew, Mike Whisenant and Walt Whisenant will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Whisenant was born in Pitt County on May 1, 1941 son of the late Hobert Jason Whisenant and Rosa Hardy Whisenant. He graduated from Grimesland High School and worked for many years as an iron worker and truck driver.
Mr. Whisenant is survived by his son; Fonzie Whisenant Jr. Schwartz and fiance/ Donna of Washington, a step-daughter; Nancy Williams and husband Bennie of Williamston, a step-son; Michael Schwartz and wife Lisa of Chocowinity, a brother; Ottis Whisenant and wife Liz of Washington, three sisters; Goldie Roberson and husband Jay, Myrtie Daniels and Lillian Phillips all of Washington, and three grandchildren; Fonzie Whisenant III, Ashley Cartwright and Samantha Mason.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Whisenant was preceded in death by a brother Jason Whisenant and two sisters Dorothy Singleton and Katherine Harris.
The family will receive friends from 7:30-9 p.m. Thursday April 30, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home located at 898 North Grimesland Bridge Road.
