David W. Whisenant Jr.
David W. Whisenant, 38, a resident of Sykesville, Md, formally of Vienna, was killed in an airplane crash Saturday, September 4, 2004, at Koliganek, Alaska while on a hunting trip.
He was born February 16, 1966, in Parkersburg, West Virginia the son of David Wesley Whisenant (B. 1940) and Dorothy Jean Fought-Whisenant (B. 1940).
David was a partner of Environmental Demolition Services of Baltimore, Md. He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and West Virginia University with a BS degree in geology. He was active in sports during his high school years, an Eagle Scout of Vienna Troop 20, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Tammy Marie Robinson-Whisenant; children Ashley Robison, a student at WVU and Eric Robison at home; his sister Teresa Whisenant-Swanson and her husband Jeff Swanson; nephew Matthew Swanson of Richmond VA; maternal grandparents Homer Fought and May Fought of Richmond, Virginia; aunt and uncle Judy and Gayle Arnold of Richmond Virginia; mother-in-law Jeanette Garlitz; brother-in-law Harry Garlitz; sister-in-law Tina Kesner and children Chantelle and Timmy all of Cumberland, MD; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
His grandparents, Dora "Katherine" Kidd-Whisenant (1903-1991) and Horace William Whisenant (1900-1989), of Oceana, WV, preceded him in death.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 10 and an hour before services on Saturday, September 11th at 1:00 PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home 403 7th Street, Parkersburg, WV. The Rev. Jack Neilson will officiate. Interment will follow at the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
