Lester R. Whisenhunt

Lester R. Whisenhunt, 79, passed away Jan. 3, 2009, at 6:20 a.m. in Georgia after battling cancer for a long time.He was the son of Charlie and Rheba Whisenhunt. He graduated from Opdyke High School in 1948, the last year Opdyke had a high school. At the age of 19 years, he joined the U.S. Navy for four years, then worked for the government for 40 years in Georgia.He married Mona Demsey and they had four children, Randy, Renea, David and Jody, plus several grandchildren.He is survived by sisters, Mary Ellen Johnson of Mt. Vernon, Edna Denham of Minooka, Charlene Williamson of Trenton and Sue Walf of Bonnie and several nieces and nephews.Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in Covington, Ga.
