Marvin Whisenhunt
MADERA, Calif. - Marvin Whisenhunt, 64, formerly of Coolidge, died May 18, 2004.
Mr. Whisenhunt was a native of Ada, Okla., and lived in Coolidge during his youth. He graduated from Coolidge High School in 1958. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 20 years and was a master gunnery sergeant. He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran. He had been a resident of Madera for the past 32 years. He was a member of Sunset Avenue Church of Christ and an avid hiker.
He is survived by his children, Gary Whisenhunt of Coarsegold, Calif., Brian Whisenhunt of Fresno, Calif., and Kristine Lara of Madera; a brother, Mearl Whisenhunt of Flora Vista, N.M.; two sisters, Mollie Casner and Ruby Lamb of Nampa, Idaho; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mickey Whisenhunt; his parents, Marvin and Christine Whisenhunt; and stepmother, Mary Whisenhunt.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, Calif.
