Edith F. Gay

Edith F. Gay, age 61, of Locust Grove (formerly of Manassas), died on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at UVA Hospital, Charlottesville.

Survivors include her children Erik Kindrick, of Locust Grove, Angela and James Matthews of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Rhonda and Shawn Taylor, of Locust Grove, David Gay, Jr., of Locust Grove and Rachael Gay, of Winchester; 12 grandchildren Tara Jackson, James Ryan Gay, Elizabeth Matthews, Jeremy Matthews, Samantha Kendrick, Amber Taylor, Katherine Taylor, Teressa Rohm, Brittany Rife, Brieanna Gay, Dezaray Jackson and Donavin Jackson; one great-grandchild Destiny Jackson; three brothers, Clarence Whisenhunt, Jr., Norman Whisenhunt and Michael Whisenhunt; two sisters, Catherine Kirk and Rebecca Meade and numerous nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Gay, Sr.; father, Clarence Whisenhunt; mother, Eva Whisenhunt; and brother, Lawrence Arlen Whisenhunt. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19 at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, Va. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, November 20 at Johnson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Dan Bennett, Robert Warden, James Matthews, Russell Pierce, Christopher Taylor and Shawn Taylor. Interment to follow in Stafford Memorial Park, Stafford, Va.
