Elsie Whisenant Bowman

Elsie Whisenant Bowman, 73, of 434 Ret Stafford Lane, Taylorsville, N.C. died Wednesday, May 27, 2008 at the residence.

She was born June 22, 1934 in Alexander County to the late Edward Elisha Whisenant and Claudia Teague Whisenant.

She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and was a retired furniture worker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Escar Bowman and four brothers, Tom Whisenant, Mark Whisenant, Elisha Whisenant and Pleas Whisenant.

Survivors include four daughters, Juanita Jarman and special friend, Doug Higgins and Jackie Teague and husband, Allen, all of Taylorsville, Tracy Painter and husband, Mark of Johnson City, TN and Patricia Holsclaw and husband, Johnny, of Taylorsville; a son, Rodney Bowman and special friend, Kimberly Bolch of Taylorsville; a sister, Peggy Childers of Pensacola, Florida; a brother, John Whisenant of Lenoir; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Smyrna Baptist Church by the Revs. Mike Barber and Sammy Kiser.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Smyrna Baptist Church from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the church.
