Karla Louise Whisnant

September 23, 1960 - January 30, 2009

Karla Louise Koch Whisnant (48), loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, of La Grange, Texas was tragically taken from us in an automobile accident on Friday, January 30, 2009, in La Grange, Texas.

Karla was born on September 23, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan. She was raised in St. Clair Shores, Michigan and attended Lakeview High School (class of 78). She married Roy Whisnant and they lived in Imlay City, Michigan where they raised their four children, Brianne, Brandon, Brent, and Blair. The family moved to Brenham, Texas and more recently to La Grange, Texas, where they are the owners of Complete Container/Green Enterprises.

Karla’s love was for God, her family, and her animals. She was a loving wife and mother who adored her grandson and her new grandchild on the way. She gave of herself tirelessly to people and animals that needed her. The family would like to thank the outpouring of support they have received during this difficult time and ask that you continue to pray for her husband Roy Whisnant who is still hospitalized at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years Roy Whisnant; children Brianne (Gino) Griego, Brandon Whisnant, Blair Whisnant, Brent Whisnant, and grandson Jaxon Griego; parents Louise and Charles McCollum and Gordon and Mary Koch; brother Kurt Koch, sister Kerstin Koch Litvak and step sister Bonnie McCullum.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 9 in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor Villard Hunter of Vineyard Church of Brenham officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
