Margaret Whisenhunt

Margaret Earle Hillman Whisenhunt of Bee Branch, and Story, Wy., went home to the Lord on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at the age of 72.

She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.

Margaret was born in Fordyce on July 21, 1937, to Travy and Helen Hillman.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Margaret had a full life of music, teaching, outdoors activities and family. She enjoyed playing the piano, cooking and swimming in Greers Ferry Lake. Music was her greatest love through the years. She played at church and any place she found a piano. Attending the Arkansas Symphony was one of her favorite activities. Later in life, Margaret welcomed the times she had with her grandchildren. Watching them grow and getting to know them gave Margaret a special fulfillment.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joe; and her two children, Kari and husband Doug Robertson and Joe Jr. and wife Connie Roller Whisenhunt. Also left are her five grandchildren, Maggie, Joey, Zeke, Johanna and Henry; her sister, Lanell Rowe and her husband Sonny and son Jeremy. There are many other extended relatives and friends left behind who have been touched by knowing Margaret. Her selfless acts were an everyday occurrence. Her first thoughts were always of others. Margaret made the best out of all situations. She was the best sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend anyone could have. We will all be a little emptier without Margaret, but her memory will be with us always.

There will be a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church in Conway at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial gifts can be made to your local Humane Society or library.
