James D. Whisennand

ELKHART - James D. Whisennand, 62, died May 1, 2007, at his home.

He was born May 12, 1944, in Elkhart, the son of Ernest and Alice Schnaufer Whisennand. He owned and operated J & J Oilfield Services for 30 years.

He was a past commander at Elkhart Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3162, member and past president of Jaycess, and Elkhart Chamber of Commerce.

On November 7, 1965, he married Mary Strothman, in Elkhart. She survives.

Other Survivors include: a daughter, Tammie Elsen; three brothers, Joseph, Elkhart, Jon, Elkhart, Jack, Seminole, Okla.; a sister, Maxine, Ponca City; and two grandson's.

He is preceded in death by parents; and a sister, Phyllis.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Elkhart. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday at the church with the Rev. Francis Khoi Nguyen presiding. Burial will be in the Elkhart Cemetery, with military rites performed by Elkhart VFW Post No. 3162.
