Nadine Poole Whisenant
Sales Clerk Nadine Whisenant was born at Pawnee Station, Kansas on March 13, 1933 and passed from this life February 12, 2010 in Visalia, California at the age of 76. Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Anna Brown; her brothers, Lee and Walter Brown; and her first husband, Eugene Poole. Nadine is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jim Whisenant; her sons, Jim and Steve Poole; 4 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Nadine, at the age of 2 ½ was moved from the family farm in Redfield, Kansas to California. Her parents followed the crops in those early days and Nadine was saddened to make friends, just to lose them because of another move. She determined herself at a very young age to put down roots and did so at Taurusa, northwest of Ivanhoe, where she built a home and vowed she would never move. She felt very loved and connected to her father and had a passion for the Brown Family ancestry. After her youngest son started school she went into Visalia and was hired by J.C. Penneys and late Gottschalks. After several years of working she decided homemaking was where her heart was. She moved her parents and their mobile home to the back of her property and took care of them until their deaths. She became a member of the First Christian Church of Visalia and accepted the Lord as her savior through Baptism. She had a strong desire to provide shelter to any animal, especially cats that came her way. Nadine became an accomplished artist in oil paintings and a very, very good cook. Her family and friends enjoyed many extravagant and delicious meals at her home. Nadine had a very warm and loving heart and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorial service will be held Friday, February 19, 2010, 1:00PM at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Woodlake District Cemetery.
