Mary Alice (Whisenant) Woods
Ohatchee - Home going service for Ms. Mary Alice Whisenant Woods, 94, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ohatchee, the Rev. John James, pastor. Burial will be in First Baptist Community Cemetery. Ms. Mary Woods was born August 8, 1916, to the parentage of the late Mr. James and Mrs. Emma Nix in Talladega County. She peacefully departed this life Saturday, July 3, 2010. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, and was a faithful member of Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church of Ohatchee. She served her church faithfully in many office positions until her health started failing. She is preceded in death by one brother, Walter Nix; two sisters, Queen Youson and Louise Porter; one son, Johnny Robinson; one stepson, Frank Whisenant; two grandchildren, Deval Morrow and Frank Whisenant Jr.; and the late Mr. Mose Whisenant. She leaves to cherish her love and memories three children, Linda (Michael) Brown of Anniston, John Mose Whisenant and Juanita (James) Hubbard both of Ohatchee; stepson, Norris (Christine) Whisenant of Hanford, Calif.; four grandchildren, Anthony Battle, Desmond Hubbard, Keonia Hubbard and Michael Brown II; one great-grandchild; three brothers-in-law, Mack Whisenant, Azell Whisenant and Sonny Woodruff; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god children, god grandchildren and many friends whom she loved dearly.
