Maxine M. Whisenhunt
Funeral service for Maxine M. Whisenhunt will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14, at New Hope Church of God. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 1-6 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Maxine died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, after a lengthy battle with cancer, just four days short of her 73rd birthday.
The daughter of Ollie Valley and Ozie Virgie (Smith) Gordineer was born Nov. 14, 1933, in Inola. Maxine married Burvel ?Wayne? Whisenhunt on July 18, 1952, in Claremore where they made their home. Maxine graduated from Claremore High School in 1955.
In the early 1990s she received her associate?s degree from Rogers State College. Wayne and Maxine were married for 35 years before Wayne passed away in 1987. Maxine went to work as an administrative assistant at the college and later retired. Maxine loved music, enjoyed playing pitch and other card games with her family, playing bingo and traveling. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; parents, Ollie and Ozie Gordineer; brothers: Junior, Gene, and Bobby Gordineer; and sister, Jewel Padgett.
She is survived by her son, Curry Whisenhunt and wife, Linda of Devine, Texas; daughter, Donna Toothman of Claremore; siblings: Ralph Gordineer and wife, Mildred of Wann, Pat Crutchfield and husband, Kenny of Claremore, Jerry Gordineer and wife, Betty of Strang, Fred Gordineer and wife, Rhonda of Bartlesville, Naomi Gordineer of Florence, Miss., and sister-in-law, Cathy Whisenhunt-Holliday and husband Kenton of Houston, Texas; grandchildren: Goose Kelley and wife, Pauline of San Antonio, Lorraine Velasquez and husband, Jose of Devine, Texas, Amber Wright and husband, Bentley of Tulsa, and Olivia Toothman of Claremore; and great-grandchildren: Cadence, Rebekah, Robbin, Bobby, Clare, Brenna, Matthew, and Alyssa.
