Mr. Henry L. Whisenhunt Jr. died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity-on-the-Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. David Jones officiating. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. in Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Cemetery, Dillard.
Mr. Whisenhunt, a native of Cope, S.C., was an Air Force veteran and had retired as a U.S. assistant district attorney from Department of Justice. He was a former loan officer at C&S Bank and was a member of West Augusta YMCA, where he was a former president, Augusta Bar Association, State Bar of Georgia, Federal Bar Association, American Bar Association, Rotary Club of Augusta and Trinity-on-the-Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Henry L. Whisenhunt III, Monument, Colo., and Kenneth M. Whisenhunt, Garden City, N.Y.; two daughters, Becky Whisenhunt, Atlanta, and Sara W. Mobley, Martinez; two sisters, Cornelia Pannell, Cope, and Nancy Shrine, Fort Mill, S.C.; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904; or to Trinity-on-the-Hill United Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.
Friends may call at the residence of Sara Mobley, 3753 Murray Road, Martinez.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road.
