Samuel J. Whisenhunt

WICHITA - Samuel J. Whisenhunt, 69, died Oct. 9, 2004, at Robert J. Dole VA Hospital, Wichita.

He was born Jan. 26, 1935, at Gage, Okla., the son of Joseph Glen and Viola B. Murphy Whisenhunt. He lived and attended school in Oklahoma and Arkansas before moving to Kansas. He was an aircraft mechanic at Cessna, Wichita.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, stationed at Columbus, Ohio, and Lockborne Air Force Base.

On March 1, 1957, he married Barbara Spalletta at Columbus, Ohio. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Floyd Glenn, Horatio, Ark.; a daughter, Cindy Lee Bell, Horatio, Ark.; a brother, Floyd James, Enid, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Viola May Whisenhunt, on Feb. 4, 1991, and a sister, Glenda Whisenhunt.

A private family graveside service was Wednesday.
