J.C. Whisenant

Sgt. 1st Class J.C. Whisenant, 75, of Rocky Face, passed on to heaven Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Hamilton Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Cecil Whisenant; daughter, Angela Whisenant; brothers, D.L. Whisenant and Melford Whisenant; uncle, Conley Sutton and the mother of his children, Irene King Whisenant. J.C. was retired from the U.S. Army and was a member of the Cohutta Masonic Lodge 64 F and AM. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Charlie Daves of Chatsworth, Sharon and Lee Roels of Dalton, Jacinta "Cinty" and Daniel Ward of Ringgold; grandsons, Daniel and Scott Thomason, Aaron Mansfield, Zanovah Ward and Grant Ward; granddaughters, Hallie Mansfield and Camie Ward; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Molly and Ethan Thomason; brothers and sisters, Calvin Whisenant, Winfred Whisenant, Sam Jr. Whisenant, Virgil Whisenant, Lucy Ramsey and Joy Cockburn. Services will be at noon Saturday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Smith and the Rev. Tim Redden officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Friday after 4 p.m.
