Barbara Ann Whisenhunt
Barbara Ann Whisenhunt, 72, of Horacio, Ark., died Friday, July 10, 2009, in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born July 4, 1937, in Tampa, Fla., to Guiseppe and Anna Louise Loupo Whisenhunt Spalletta.
In 1956, she married Samuel J. Whisenhunt in Columbus, Ohio. They later divorced. In 1962, she moved to Syracuse, where she raised her three children before moving to Wichita in 1970. She worked for two years at Cessna, working with sheet metal and rivets, before returning to Syracuse in 1972 and working at the Capri Restaurant, washing dishes and waiting tables. While working at the restaurant, she took another job in 1974, working on the construction of the bridge on the south side of Syracuse. In 1975, she began working at Hamilton County Hospital as a certified nurse aide, which she did for one year. She began working at IBP in Holcomb in 1984, staying there for two years. In January 2005, she moved to Horatio to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Whisenhunt was a member of Church Of The Nazarene of Syracuse. She enjoyed playing cards, especially gin rummy, crocheting, collecting stuffed bears and knick-knacks, crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Floyd Whisenhunt of Horacio; a daughter, Cindy Bell of Horacio; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Viola May Whisenhunt.
Graveside service was at Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse, Hamilton Co., KS
