Princess Whisenant

Princess Branch Whisenant, 91, of Morganton, passed into eternity on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at the Burke Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Valdese. Born June 29, 1917 in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late John and Florence B. Branch. Princess spent her life as a devoted wife and homemaker. She was especially a dog lover; she cherished many pets over the years. Another interest and joy for Princess was growing and caring for beautiful plants and flowers. Surviving are a sister, Joyce Smith; a brother, Bill Branch, both of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Princess was also preceded in death by her husband, John Whisenant; three sisters, Carrie Quick, Grace Powell and Sadie McDaniels; and a brother, Paul Branch Sr. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton, with the Rev. Gary Leonard officiating. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
